About
Amberlane Play started as a group chat where a few of us kept swapping screenshots of games we couldn't put down. At some point the list got too long to keep in our heads, so we turned it into a proper site. Nothing fancy, just people who like phones and the small games that live on them.
We lean toward arcades and racers because those are the genres you can pick up on a bus and still enjoy. But we don't gatekeep genres. If a strategy or RPG grabs us, it goes on the list and gets the same treatment.
Every game we cover has been installed on a real phone and played past the tutorial. We take notes on how the controls feel, whether the game respects your time, and how long before the fun runs dry. Then we argue about the score.
We're a small independent team, not a studio and not a storefront. We don't sell games and we don't take money to say nice things. If something is mediocre, we'll tell you, politely.
Mateusz Kowalczyk — Mateusz has been reviewing mobile games for over a decade and still gets genuinely annoyed by bad touch controls. He runs the editorial side and plays far too many racing games.
